Chitterlings (chitlins) recipe



Recipe for chitterlings (chitlins) in our easy pork recipes collection.

Recipe ingredients

  • 1, 5 pounds, bucket chitterlings
  • 1 to 2 tablespoons salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground red pepper
  • 2 eggs, slightly beaten
  • 2 tablespoons flour
  • 1, 5 1/4 ounces, can evaporated milk

How to make chitterlings (chitlins)

  • Place chitterlings in Dutch oven and add enough water to cover.
  • Add salt and red pepper and mix.
  • Cover and cook over medium heat for 1 hour or until fork tender. Drain well.
  • Mix together the eggs, flour and evaporated milk to make batter.
  • Dip chitterlings in batter to coat and fry in hot oil in large skillet to brown, turning once.
  • Serve hot.
